POSITION: SPECIAL EVENTS/PROGRAMS MANAGER
The Shreveport Aquarium's mission is to educate, inspire, and entertain guests while promoting community sustainability. The Special Events/Programs Manager plays a vital role in creating revenue-generating events and educational activities beyond the standard guest experience.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Current Program Management: Manage and oversee existing programs and activities, including:

Paddlefish Festival, Party for the Planet, Shark Week

Character breakfasts and seasonal events (Mutiny and Believe Lights the Night)
New Program Development and Planning: Contribute to ongoing development and strategic planning of new special event programs aligned with company's long-term objectives. Assist in preparing ROI and budgets as required.
Event Execution: Aid in planning and executing special event programs, including setup and breakdown.
Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing Director to promote programs through timely website and newsletter content.
Business Development and Project Management: Evaluate potential opportunities for new business ideas. Lead program-related capital projects from concept to completion under direction from the Director of Development and Marketing Director.
Documentation: Develop planning documents in advance and create post-event debrief documents for organizational learning.
Collateral Management: Maintain inventory and secure storage of all annual/seasonal event collateral, theming and signage.
Communication and Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments to support events and activities. Ensure effective communication among aquarium operating teams, management, and company leadership. Conduct regular meetings to clarify responsibilities and ensure event success.
Staff Training: Motivate and train staff for new and existing program execution, coordinating required manpower with the scheduler.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in related field

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program development, preferably in an aquarium, museum, or similar setting.

Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage with the public.

Innovative thinker with a passion for creating unique and engaging educational experiences.

Ability to pass a background check

Willing to work flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and late evenings
COMPENSATION
-
Full time, salary $45,000 - $50,000 depending on experience
