EDU-TAINER I (entry level)

 

EduTainers are a dynamic team of creative educators who use the aquarium as their stage to inspire guests to discover, connect, and take action for our oceans. Guided by our core values of excellence, character, innovation, stewardship, and empowerment, EduTainers bring energy and authenticity to every interaction. They use their talents to tell stories, guide and assist guests, and create memorable, meaningful experiences that spark curiosity and motivate conservation action across all ages and backgrounds.

 

​EduTainer I Responsibilities

  • Hosting guests throughout the attraction and providing information on a variety of exhibits

  • Help guests find meaning in their aquarium interactions and encourage them to apply what they discover in the aquarium to their everyday lives and conservation at large.

  • Keeping assigned galleries tidy, safe, and ready to receive guests

  • Facilitating interactions at touch stations that are safe for animal ambassadors and guests.

  • Continually learning new content about our animals and our planet and translating that to guests of all ages and backgrounds

  • Creating unexpected, memorable and positive guest experiences

  • Sales and cashiering

  • Contributing to special Aquarium events and programs like field trips, members only nights, summer camps, birthdays and holiday offerings. 

  • Maintaining knowledge of aquarium facilities, programs, animals, and staff.

  • EduTainers may become several walking characters through the year- pirates, elves, palaeontologists – the possibilities are as limitless as the sea!

 

 

 EduTainer I Traits

  • Outgoing, approachable, friendly and reliable

  • Belief that humans can change the world for the better

  • Comfortable with both formally addressing and casually speaking with the public

  • High energy level

  • Love to learn and share that knowledge

 

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old

  • At least 2-year experience in Customer Service is a PLUS

  • Strong communication skills

  • Background in community service, volunteerism, or activism is a BIG PLUS

  • Must comply with background check

  • Willing to work flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and some evenings

 

Compensation

  • $11 per hour

  • This entry level Edutainer I position will be eligible to apply for an Educator II role after 1 year of employment and successful completion of our edutainer training modules
