Corporate & Event Sales Manager

Full-Time, Exempt

 

Position Overview

The Corporate & Event Sales Manager is responsible for driving outside sales to grow revenue across our unique aquarium and event venue. This role is focused on building relationships with corporate clients, convention groups, meeting planners, and professional organizations to secure private events, meetings, networking receptions, and social functions. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-motivated sales professional with experience generating and closing event business and a passion for creating unforgettable client experiences.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Corporate & Convention Event Sales

  • Proactively prospect and secure bookings from corporations, associations and convention planners for meetings, receptions and offsite experiences

  • Develop and maintain relationships with area hotels, convention centers, tourism professionals and professional event planners

  • Represent the venue and aquarium at trade shows, meeting planner functions, chamber events and other networking functions to generate new leads

  • Respond to event inquiries quickly and professionally, conduct site tours, and prepare customized proposals and contracts

  • Create and implement strategies to position the venue as the premier choice for corporate and convention events in the region

  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly event sales goals

 

Nonprofit Event Sales

  • Sell and coordinate private nonprofit events such as fundraisers, galas and celebrations

  • Identify opportunities to upsell catering, rentals, and unique aquarium experiences to enhance revenue


Sales Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, leads, proposals, and contracts in CRM system

  • Develop regular sales reports and pipeline updates for leadership

  • Track client feedback and trends to inform sales strategies and improve service

  • Track group booking trends and report on attendance and revenue

 

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in event sales, corporate/group sales, or hotel/convention services

  • Proven success generating new business and meeting revenue targets

  • Strong knowledge of regional corporate and association markets

  • Excellent networking, relationship management, and negotiation skills

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends for tours and events

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target Total Compensation (OTE): $55,000 – $70,000+, consisting of:

​- Base Salary: $30,000 – $40,000 (commensurate with experience)

- Commision Plan: 5–8% commission earned on new contracted sales originated, (excluding pass-through expenses such as third-party rentals, equipment, or services procured externally on the client’s behalf)
