School Field Trips




Our field trips are FINtastic! Combine hands-on learning with educational talks and up close animal encounters!

It is a good idea to book your field trip 1-3 months in advance to be sure we can accommodate your group. We cannot wait to spend the day with you!















General Information:

  • All school groups MUST book in advance with our Education Team. 

  • School Group visits are available Wednesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

  • Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome!

  • There must be one adult for every 10 students and each school group will receive one complimentary chaperone admission for every 10 students.

  • Any additional parents, grandparents or siblings are $10 each plus tax and will be considered observers, not participants.


School Group Rates Options:

  • Guided Tours: $6 per child. An aquarist will guide your group around the aquarium. Large groups will be broken into smaller groups of 25-30 people. Add a stingray feeding for just $2 per person!

  • Aquacology: $9 per child. An hour-long age-appropriate guided tour through the aquarium, a chance to be a biologist by peeking through a microscope to see what our jellyfish eat, and even feeding the jellyfish yourself! All students will receive a souvenir pencil made of recycled materials. Add a stingray feeding experience for just $2 per person!

  • The Feeding Frenzy: $18 per child. Feed the jellyfish- peer through a microscope to see what they eat, make fish treats in our husbandry lab, enjoy a pizza buffet or taco bar, guided tour, recycled pencil souvenir. This package is a 2-hour experience. Add a stingray feeding experience for just $2 per person!

Code of Conduct:

  • No flash photography, please!

  • Be courteous and respectful of all visitors, exhibits and building. Talk quietly as you explore the wonders of the Aquarium.

  • Please do not use pens or pencils inside the Aquarium unless permitted by a staff member.

  • Help protect the animals. When permitted, touch the animals gently using the illustrated two-finger touch method. Please do not disturb animals by tapping on the windows.

  • Keep food, drinks and gum outside the Aquarium. 

  • Adults must stay with children and students at all times during your visit, regardless of the age of the student.

Lunch Options:

  • SALT Café offers the option to pre-order a taco or pizza bar for field trip participants. Orders must be received 72 hours in advance (no exceptions).  Your educator will provide you with the menu when you book your field trip. 

  • Those who pre-order from the Café are welcome to enjoy their meal in our Café or in our beautiful courtyard.

  • Any outside food (including homemade sack lunches) is not permitted in the Café or in the courtyard. Riverview Park and the Red River District make the perfect location for a picnic lunch!

  • Due to limited space, Shreveport Aquarium does not have a designated location to store outside food or a location for students to eat inside the facility. Please plan ahead. 

What Else You Should Know:

  • If a group member gets lost or injured, please find the nearest staff member to assist you.

  • Don't forget to visit our Gift Shop, located at the end of the Aquarium 

  • If you are running late for your reserved group visit, please call ahead.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule please allow at least 7 days notice.

  • Please be courteous, if your group is a no-show, you will not be able to re-book for 1 year.
