JOB DESCRIPTION

MAINTENANCE

Performs general cleaning and minor maintenance duties in maintaining the Shreveport Aquarium walkways, grounds, and equipment in clean, orderly and functional condition.

Provides assistance to staff, visitors and other employees as necessary. Makes

minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs. Must be able to work

flexible hours, weekends, late evenings, as required, and be willing to step up and help out when needed.

 

Crew Member Responsibilities

  • Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment (major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers)
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts
  • Replaces broken windows, repairs doors, door locks and closets, installs window blinds
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems
  • Repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Follow all OSHA, identified external, and internal policies, protocols, and procedures
  • Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Performs outside custodial duties as needed
  • Obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed
  • Keeps Operations Director informed of all relevant issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to adhere to company employee guidelines (i.e. Planet Aqua Group – Shreveport Aquarium policies and guidelines)
  • At least 2-years experience is required
  • Basic computer skills or willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must comply with background check
  • Willing to work flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and late evenings
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

 

Compensation

Part-time Only (16-28 hours a week) $8.50-$10 based on position and experience with most starting at $8.50.
